Yet another horrible consequence of WAR

Post by CanadaCraig »

Hi Everyone!! :)

I hope you're having a fine and dandy day.

Yet another horrible consequence of WAR?

Can you guess what if might be?

The U.S. Army announced record SUICIDE rates among its soldiers last year. Two DOZEN soldiers believed to have killed THEMSELVES in January alone.

Certainly not often talked about. But certainly not surprising.

My heart goes out to ALL soldiers.

That said...

This would probably be as good a time as any to say a little prayer for all of them.

That's terrible =(
Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.

It's not surprising at all. There is a great deal of support for soldiers emotionally in this country, with people waving flags and saying prayers, but when it comes down to it we do NOT take care of our veterans. Mental health care is badly funded enough, and when you combine that with the meager benefits veterans receive, you come out with a sad mess. I do not agree with war, especially the wars going on right now, but that does not mean that we should send these soldiers to risk their lives only to be brought home and ignored. Domestic violence among returning soldiers is also a sad consequence of war.
