Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer - and the 'Acceptables'

Post by CanadaCraig » Mon Nov 12, 2007 10:32 pm

Hi Everyone!! :)

I hope you're OK.

I've thought about writing this for a long time but couldn't quite figure out how to say what I want to say. [And make it understandable] So bear with me.

Even as a kid - I was annoyed by stories like 'Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer'. The 'lesson' learned from Rudolph is that some people are BORN 'acceptable' while others have to prove their 'acceptability'. The 'acceptables' [As I call them] KNOW that they 'fit in' and 'belong'. They also KNOW that it's up to THEM to decide just how 'acceptable' other people are. So I have to ask. Are YOU as valuable and as worthy as THEY are? Are YOU an 'acceptable' or are you hoping that one day the 'acceptables' will let you become one of them?! The very idea of this has always bugged me for I believe that we are ALL 'acceptable'. [Although many of us DO and SAY things that are NOT 'acceptable'] But most of society doesn't feel that way. In the story of 'Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer' - Rudolph is bullied and picked on by the other reindeer - the 'acceptables'. It's not until Rudolph 'proves' that he can be of some USE to the other reindeer that he is considered worthy of being thought of as one of them. His glowing red nose that was once the target of ridicule has become - quite literally - a 'beacon of light' - and not only to help Santa and the other reindeer to see through the fog - but to the hearts and minds of the other reindeer. But in reality - ARE the so-called 'acceptables' always REALLY 'acceptable'? Keep reading!!

The idea of there being people who are 'acceptables' and those who are not can be found in practically every story and movie ever made. There are people in this world who are considered 'acceptable' and those who are not. But just how does one become an 'acceptable'? And if we are NOT one already - should it be our goal in life to become one?! And if we do become one - how much different would our lives be?

Why am I saying all of this? Because it's important for ALL OF US to realize that the idea that WE are not 'acceptable' is an illusion - a LIE that we have come to believe as the truth. Perhaps we have been bullied and picked on and TOLD that we are not 'acceptable'. But really - would someone [Even a reindeer!!] bully ANYONE IF they themselves were 'acceptable'? Do you see what I'm getting at? It's important to ALSO realize [And to accept as the truth] that not all 'acceptables' are 'acceptable'. No one who truly believes - deep down inside - that they are OK - would feel any need to try to elevate themselves by trying to push someone else down. In other words - a genuine 'acceptable' would NEVER become a bully. So IF what you believe about yourself has been 'shaped' by some bully - you have allowed an 'UNacceptable' to make YOU feel 'UNacceptable'. So the next time someone says something mean to you and/or you THINK of what they once said to you - quietly [Or OUT-LOUD if you like] say, "What a load of CRAP!! I am no longer listening to those LIES!!"

Make no mistake. Rudolph was 'acceptable' even BEFORE that foggy night!!

TJ[10:13 PM]: no not really..... it's all so.... like wow..... screw steps, you took a fuckin jet pack and strapped it on yourself and rocketed your way forward (thats my big bro)

And I'm going to extremes

Tomorrow I will change

And today won't mean a thing

I'm a bitch, I'm a tease

I'm a goddess on my knees

When you hurt, when you suffer

I'm your angel undercover

I've been numb, I'm revived

Can't say I'm not alive

You know I wouldn't want it any other way
